Zoopharmacognosy is an emerging field dedicated to the study of how animals self-medicate. The Ingraham Academy of Zoopharmacognosy promotes teaching the importance of natural medicine to those who care for animals, both domestic and wild. Its aims are to provide in-depth knowledge of this subject for the well-being of animals whose man-made environment suppresses their natural behaviour.
There are two courses available for students - the Certificate Course and the Diploma Course. Both courses give the student extensive hands on experience. Students can elect to focus their study on small animals or equines or both species and will be certificated according to species studied.
The Diploma course combines a mix of on-line learning with practical tuition. It is an intense course designed for students who wish to fully understand the theory of pharmacokinetics and the science behind zoopharmacognosy, which is supplemented by rigorous home study. The course is phased over one - two years.
